Quarterback Tyrod Taylor has bounced around the league the past few seasons with the hopes of holding down a starting job. After being signed by Los Angeles last offseason, the opportunity arose this season. However, the worst case scenario occurred after just one start.

Prior to the Week 2 matchup with the Chiefs, a team doctor accidentally punctured Taylor’s lung while trying to administer a painkilling injection. It forced the team to throw rookie Justin Herbert into the action, where he shined in each of his three starts.

Coach Anthony Lynn said that Taylor would return to being the starter, but he ultimately chose to roll with the hot hand, announcing Herbert as the starter the rest of the way out Thursday.
